Distributor body Urges FMCG Companies to Comply with FSSAI billing Norms

According to the existing regulations, no billing should take place for any party without a valid FSSAI license, says the letter

The All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation (AICPDF) the distributor body has recently written to FMCG companies, urging them to comply with the billing norms set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

In the letter, the AICPDF highlighted the alarming violation of laws pertaining to food product billing. It highlights that according to existing regulations, no billing should be conducted without a valid FSSAI license.

However, it has been observed that certain FMCG companies' SAP/ERP systems, installed at distributor points, are enabling unlawful transactions.

They find it incredulous that companies software, which is under the ownership of company, permits the processing of billing for parties who are blatantly non-compliant with FSSAI requirements,” as per the letter.

Demanding immediate action to rectify this negligence, the AICPDF insisted on the implementation of necessary changes to software systems to ensure strict compliance with FSSAI norms.

Further added by Dhairyashi H Patil, President, AICPDF that these changes should include robust barriers and stringent checks to prevent illegal billing practices. Failure to promptly address these issues would demonstrate a disregard for consumer well-being and potentially harm the reputation of the companies involved.

Dhairyashi H Patil, president, All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation, has said that to address the issue of companies pressuring distributors to violate regulations, it is crucial to take necessary action.
